PREPARATION OF THE MIX

· Red stoneware: carried out with the dry process
· Porcelain stoneware : carried out with the wet process
· Cotto and Klinker : carried out with a semi-dry process consisting of crushing the raw materials into minute granules and homogenization in wet mixers

SHAPING

· Red stoneware and porcelain stoneware : obtained by dry pressing with hydraulic presses
· Cotto and Klinker : obtained by extrusion

DRYING

· For dry-pressed products: carried out in fast hot-air driers
· For extruded products: carried out mainly in slow driers but recently also in fast hot-air ( tunnel ) driers

FIRING

· Red stoneware : carried out in tunnel kilns at T = 1000 to 1050 °C
· Porcelain stoneware: carried out in fast single-layers kilns at TEMP =1200 to 1230 °C
· Cotto: carried out in tunnel kilns at T = 1100 to 1150 °C
· Klinker: carried out in tunnel kilns at T = 1170 to 1180 °C
